PLEASE NOTE: This is a full day registration and includes the didactic course Sleeve Gastrectomy: Not as Easy as it Seems from 8:00am – 12:00pm for a total of 7.75 credits (Didactic Course Location: Concourse 151 at the LACC).
Overview and Target Audience
This afternoon live surgery session is dedicated to live surgical procedures from operators around the world. During each hour, a different panel will be called, to discuss and interact with the audience. This session will focus on various sleeve gastrectomy procedures. This live surgery session is designed for residents in general surgery, fellows in minimally invasive, GI or bariatric surgery, general surgeons, GI surgeons, bariatric surgeons, surgical assistants and operating room nurses.
Live Surgery Session Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:
- Recognize and summarize common complications, such as weight regain, after bariatric common procedures.
- Evaluate candidates for revisions and conversions of gastric adjustable banding and sleeve gastrectomy, to other procedures.
- Detect adverse events in bariatric surgery by identifying proper technical steps of each procedure.
