Achieving weight loss can be challenging, but maintaining weight loss remains very difficult. Different treatment modalities may be appropriate for individual patients, but all weight loss treatments may struggle to maintain the weight loss if additional interventions are not considered. This symposium will review the evidence from randomized controlled trials and long term prospective studies to propose practical measures which may be adopted by treating clinicians.
- To increase the confidence of practitioners to effectively approach the issue of weight loss maintenance
- To gain knowledge about the appropriate needs and options for managing weight loss in obese patients
- To introduce the concepts of combining different therapies – e.g. combing pharmacotherapy with reduced calorie diets
