In this activity, four leading bariatric surgeons will provide a detailed overview of the evolving landscape of postoperative pain assessment, evaluation, and management techniques, and will discuss the benefits and disadvantages of long-acting versus short-acting local anesthetics and opioids. In addition, the faculty panel will interview an individual who has undergone a bariatric procedure, to explore the patient’s perspective on postoperative pain, review the methods that were effective/ineffective for relief, and discuss the impact of pain and analgesia on the patient’s eventual clinical outcome.
