Overview and Target Audience
This educational activity will include presentation of several complex metabolic and bariatric surgery case studies, each offered by a provider of a different discipline, to illustrate different approach options, and to demonstrate collaboration of the multidisciplinary team in the care of the bariatric patient. Case presentations will include discussion around the case and treatment options, both by the panel of presenters and with the attendees as well.
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:
- Describe the various elements and the importance of the preoperative evaluation by each relevant discipline in identifying potential risks to metabolic and bariatric surgery patients.
- Identify psychosocial factors that may impact metabolic and bariatric surgery outcomes.
- Explain the effect of nutrition-related factors on the metabolic and bariatric surgery patient.
