Session Overview and Target Audience
This session will focus on innovations in adolescent bariatric treatment based on current physiologic knowledge. A discussion regarding obesity physiology, energy management and new epigenetic topics, with case presentations highlighting new treatment strategies for this population will be presented along with updates on Teen LABS, AMOS, FABS-5 and the PCORI initiatives. Promising new technologies for future adolescent bariatric treatment will also be discussed and time will be reserved for interaction and discussion between the participants and the panels as these exciting horizons are explored. The target audience includes physicians and allied health care professionals who care for adolescents either full time or as part of their practice, obesity researchers, obesity advocates, policy makers, educators, and students.
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:
- Discuss three areas of energy management physiology.
- Contrast two adolescent obesity databases and their usage.
- Review two potential treatment options for use in adolescent obesity management.
