Course Overview and Target Audience
Upon completion of this course, best practices for important clinical perioperative concerns will be addressed, and an understanding of how to avoid, treat, and care for these potential complications will be achieved. This course is designed for surgeons, anesthesiologists, bariatricians, hospitalists, physician’s assistants, nurse practitioners and perioperative care nurses.
Upon completion of this course, participants should be able to:
- Demonstrate the best evidence for DVT and VTE prophylaxis and learn what others are doing to prevent this complication.
- Define the importance of pulmonary issues: OSA and surrounding issues.
- Identify what others are doing about pain management and the different therapy modalities for this treatment.
- Interpret preoperative/intraoperative issues such as anesthesia concerns, as well as post-operative issues such as when to re-operate, and the answers on how to handle these issues should they arise.
