PLEASE NOTE: This course is a full day registration and includes Live Surgery Session: Sleeve Gastrectomy from 1:30pm – 5:30pm for a total of 7.75 credits (Live Surgery Session Location: Hall G at the LA Convention Center).
Course Overview and Target Audience
Sleeve gastrectomy is now the most common metabolic and bariatric surgery procedure performed in the United States, and it is commonly said that it is a technically easier procedure to perform compared to RYGBP and DS. However, there are many variables that can affect outcomes after sleeve gastrectomy. This course focuses on technical pearls in primary and revision surgery, difficult cases and the current controversies in patient selection, revision procedure selection, and complication management in sleeve gastrectomy patients. This course is designed for surgeons, fellows, residents, and IH professionals who manage sleeve gastrectomy patients.
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:
- Discuss how the presence of GERD and diabetes influences your decision to perform sleeve gastrectomy.
- Describe revision procedures for weight regain after sleeve gastrectomy.
- Explain how to manage difficult cases and sleeve gastrectomy complications.
- Identify different techniques and pitfalls of sleeve gastrectomy.
