Course Overview and Target Audience
The post bariatric patient presents with difficult problems including excess skin, complex hernias and medical/surgical issues unique to this population. This course is designed to explore the surgical considerations in this complicated patient population. The target audience for this course are physicians and physician extenders.
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:
- Discuss the implications of a history of bariatric surgery on patients presenting for improvement of body contour.
- Explain the complexities involved in abdominal wall reconstruction after hernia formation.
- Recognize the difficulties and unique aspects of abdominal wall reconstruction in the post bariatric patient.
